Sorrowful death angels, beautiful winged creatures, fang-teethed witches or ferocious buffet-meddlers – Mythically Harpies were a contradictory bunch and the band named after them are continuing that trend by taking musical conflict to a divinely devastating new height.

Fronted by the unassuming yet terrifying Nicola Honey, HARPIES are an impressive union of sweet and sour. With the flawless ability to switch from the saccharine-drenched cuteness of Amy Lee to the aggression of Tarrie B, without so much as a flutter our leading lady is as enigmatic as she is versatile.

And with a decade-long history of relentless gigging in the bands repertoire, HARPIES have seen it all. They’ve been through the Riot Grrl hype of the mid-nineties, seen Nu-metal come… and go and watched the UK claw back its respect in the metal kingdom and with this, their second album the band are ready to join their peers, Biomechanical and Sixth in proving that British Metal is unbeatable.

Although the band are based in the land-loving Midlands HARPIES have turned to the ocean for inspiration on their new album and with the shift between calm and choppy ‘Lily Wry’ continues the contradictory theme, Lily conjures up images of beauty and regret but is matched with the bands sardonic wit.

With a solid line up now cementing the Birmingham quintet HARPIES are set to release their pummeling brand of innovative metal on a nation that is screaming out for a slice of something hard, fast and set apart from anything else on offer.
